The Beer Diet

I'm on a beer diet. No, I haven't given up beer or even really limited my intake and while the beer diet is not my idea originally, it's also not my wife's.

The beer diet is really a set of rules about what beer you can and can't drink. My friend Andy came up with the idea. He is like me, a beer snob. We both drink good beer - expensive beer as a rule. He realized that we spend a lot of money on beer and as good citizens we should support our local economy.

The rules of the beer diet are simple.
1. Drink only local beer. Local being defined as 2.5 hours by car or 250 miles.
2. The radius travels. When I go to Montana in 3 weeks I'll drink Montana beers.
3. If there is no beer that fits the rules, you drink something else.
4. I would - although I haven't discussed this with the creator of the beer diet - grant a middle of nowhere exception. There are areas of this country that have no good beer brewed locally. Colby, KS for example. I would suggest in that case picking one nearby city and Wichita, Denver, or KC in my example and using that as your center.
