So, I was going to write about Jay's Alexander the Great question and I was going to comment on two things I heard on the radio yesterday. Instead of either of those, I need to talk about the number .67. Today I got the news. I'm officially back at HAP. As of right now, it's only a .67 position. There are several ways it can/might be increased back up to 1.0 FTE for next school year.
Other than the personal stuff about taking care of my kids and keeping the house, which would have been taken care of by me finding a teaching job somewhere. (I'm sure TCI would take me back.) Professionally, this is huge. First, this means tenure. Tenure doesn't guarantee a job in the future, but it does grant rehire rights. Second, this means I get to keep coaching football at the same place I've been. Third, it means all of my new curriculum plans for next year can go through. The interdisciplinary class can go through, my tyrants and conquerors elective can happen and most importantly I get to teach my baseball history class.
